Summer is winding down and this month our students and teachers return.  As always, we look forward to this.

I hope many of you stopped by our booths at the Fair and we got a chance to talk with you.  With the economy the way it is and our budget stretched like many others, we continue to need input so that we are sure we are responding to as many needs as we can – as efficiently as we can.  Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to chat with us.

Governor Strickland signed the legislation which eliminates the MR from our county board name.  We will officially be the Clermont Board of Developmental Disabilities by this fall.  Please be assured that only our name is changing; all people eligible for our services now, under the MRDD name, will still be eligible.   There are no changes in our programs or supports.  Look for more information in the coming months.  We will be using our current supply of letterhead and envelopes with the MRDD name and logo.  Fortunately everyone understood the need to be resourceful when the legislation was designed!  But, you can expect to see our different look very soon.

And speaking of our look:  hopefully you have seen our billboards and our movie ads this summer.  We are working very hard to make sure the community knows who we are and who we serve.

In just a couple of months we will be holding our third annual Gala for Respite services.  We are trying a new theme this year, so stay tuned for more information.  But, the most important thing to remember is that families are depending so much on being able to access respite services.  Through this community’s support of our Gala events, we’ve been able to assure that the Gift of Time continues.  And the events are a lot of fun, too.  Call us for more information.

Taste of Clermont is moving this year – to the parking lot at Eastgate Mall.  Our Clerco Café will be there again – offering delicious sandwiches and treats.  Please look for us!
